Modeling and Analysis of Uncertainty
This course focuses on developing an appreciation for uncertainties in engineering and the conditions under which they arise, framed within the problem-solving pedagogy of measurements, models, validation, and analysis. Students will explore challenges in obtaining accurate measurements and learn effective techniques for organizing data—both tabular and graphical—to minimize misinformation and enhance understanding. The course emphasizes the development and evaluation of models, supported by computer demonstrations, and highlights applications to real-world engineering problems. Through practical examples, students will gain insights into managing uncertainty in engineering practices.
