Strength of Materials
This course delves into the fundamental concepts of stress and strain, providing a comprehensive understanding of material behavior under various loading conditions. Key topics include generalized Hooke’s law, axial loads, torsion, and pure bending, as well as transverse loading. Students will also explore the transformation of stress and strain components in two dimensions and apply these principles to the design of beams and shafts for strength. Additional topics include beam deflection, work and energy principles, and the analysis of columns. Through this course, students will develop a robust foundation in mechanical behavior and design, equipping them with the tools to solve complex structural problems.
